ROLE: DESIGN ASSISTANT
CHROMEPLEASE is an independent Melbourne-based design and publishing practice founded by Audrey Adams. Working across architecture, exhibition design, publishing, and spatial installation, the practice produces exhibitions in print, experimental publications that explore materiality, distortion, and spatial thinking across design, fashion, and art.
CHROMEPLEASE will present an immersive exhibition environment for Melbourne Design Week 2026, combining publication, installation, and spatial experience.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
This is a short-term, on-site role in Melbourne supporting the CHROMEPLEASE exhibition during Melbourne Design Week 2026. The Design Assistant will work directly with the founder to assist with installation, spatial setup, event operations, and day-to-day exhibition support.
The role is hands-on and suited to someone interested in exhibition design, architecture, interiors, publishing, and contemporary design culture.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with exhibition installation and spatial setup
Supporting the production of display elements and materials
Assisting with the handling and presentation of publications and merchandise
Supporting event operations and visitor engagement
Assisting with pack-down and logistics
General studio and production support leading up to the event
QUALIFICATIONS + REQUIREMENTS
Degree or background in architecture, interior design, exhibition design, or related field preferred
Strong interest in contemporary design, architecture, and visual culture
Highly organised and reliable
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative environment
Detail-oriented with strong spatial awareness
Experience with design software [ Adobe, CAD, or similar ] is beneficial but not essential
DURATION
Project-based role — May 2026 [ installation + exhibition days ]

REMUNERATION
This is a paid project-based role. Remuneration will be discussed with the shortlisted candidates
